Creatives and Olympic fans now have the chance to leave their mark on Olympic history. A global call is open to shape one of the most meaningful symbols of the Games by designing the obverse side of the medal for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). The selected design will feature on the medals awarded to athletes who reach the podium in Senegal. Designs can be submitted from 2 September to 7 October 2025 through a dedicated platform on Olympics.com.

Team SA waves goodbye to The 2025 World Games with three silver medals and high spirits. All 22 competing South African athletes across ten sporting codes gave their all to represent their country the best they could and should be proud of their performances and the impression that they left on the global stage.

Team SA’s athletes were involved in three sports (kickboxing, squash and billiards) on Tuesday at The World Games in Chengdu, China. They have two silver medals won by Hamish Lovemore in canoeing, in both the short and long distance finals.

Team South Africa will be represented by a squad of 20 athletes across eight sports at the 12th edition of The World Games in Chengdu, China from 7-17 August. The World Games is a multi-sport event for several sports and disciplines that are not in the program of the Olympic Games, with the event taking place every four years.

South Africa started Tuesday at the World University Games in Germany with six medals, all in the pool, with Pieter Coetze (pictured) winning two gold and a silver, while Lara van Niekerk has a silver and two University Games Team SA relay squads have won bronze.
